do you remember Erik. B and Rakim (his D.J.) they were super bad ass early hip-hop...well not early but quite famous around the time of Skid Rowes "I remember you" and Lou Reeds "Dirty Blvd." videos on MTV. Erik B was a smash with the skaters in jacksonville, all 5 of them, and I was sort of pre-dispositioned towards 45 Grave, Black Flag and White Lion, Slaughter, and well that Skid Rowe song because I thought it was funny and there was this sweet girl that I dated all the way through school that was just beans you know, and she loved Slaughter but mainly loved this weird band from Canada that sounded like a pop version of Voivod, the name I cant remember, and White Lion, like that song "Wait" or "Fly to the Angels" by Slaughter. so anyway i used to play that shit as well as Gunsn Roses and La Guns and whatever to get them all worked up. They were always listening to hip-hop which i liked, but didnt officially speak to me as i was gothed out and really i just wanted to make out with this girl, Talia, what a name. anyhow that never happened and one night, after alot to drink and alot to.....well, lets just say alot.....we were recording in Durham NC, the original version of Strangers Alamanac with Chris Stamey, to be honest the superior version with all original memebers save for the bass player who was not an original memeber. he was just a memeber, and i guess we ended up cutting this. Im guessing it was the ass end of an evening. I heard Talia had a nervous breakdown and actually saw her a few times in Raleigh when I would hang out at this bar called the Comet a few years later but I wasnt really anybody to speak to myself back then............ ...... long fucking answer. whew...
