Here's an excerpt from the Rueben's Accomplice Journal
regarding opening for Ryan. Interesting. I arrived to Phoenix a couple days before when the tour was supposed to start, only to find that we were staying in town an extra day to play a show opening up for Ryan Adams. About a year and a half ago, we were playing in Dallas, TX, opening up for the Promise Ring when during the show we were heckled beyond belief by some ass hole in the balcony, only to find out after the show that it was Ryan Adams. He really loved the set and our music and kept in touch with us through Jeff for quite a while, so we thought it would be fun to stick around and do a show with him while we had the chance. It was actually pretty fun. I think we played well and Ryan seemed to like it and all. His set was interesting full of rocking and rolling and sensitive crooning and littered with bratty outbursts including a thrown acoustic guitar (the head stock was broken in half). I guess it was probably a typical Ryan Adams show, but we had fun. |
