| Ok here it is. Ryan was very nervous at the show didn't talk much at all which is what I was looking forward too. He seemed a bit taken aback by the size and anticipation of the crowd which he commented on a few time. The show was being pro-shot by a camera man but they said nothing as to what it was for. From the way the guy was moving around and losing sight of Ryan a lot I think it will be something that is edited together for like a one song video. The highlight of the show was definitely Ryan doing Brown Sugar really slow on the piano it was so good. The cellist and violinist touring with him were good and added a nice accent to the few songs they played on. The crowd was excited but not too bad quiet for the most part during songs and raging in between. I taped the show from about 20' back dead center it sounds pretty good I am working on converting it now. The total time was about 80 minutes but without the talking that is a long set song-wise. He did all but 3-4 tracks from Heartbreaker a couple from Gold and only 2 from Demolition and then a couple of covers. I have a feeling he gets back into touring and performing alone he will be more open and talkative but he seemed overwhelmed by the crowd and not ready to be out there all alone. It has been awhile since he has toured solo and it was a bigger crowd then most of the club gigs he played then. All in all a great show. I tried to coax "Folklore" out of him but no go. So that was how the first night went. I will be leaving in a few minutes to head down to the ACL festival and see how he does there and will be taping that also. I hope it comes out OK since it will outside with ALOT larger crowd. Who knows maybe Caitlin and Gillian will get up there with him. I got my fingers crossed. -- Collin Copeland | |||
