  2. In My Time Of Need = “This is a song I wrote for the new Whiskeytown record that didn’t go on it, and we were recording the record in upstate New York in West Hurley which is near Woodstock . . . and there was this sort of curious old man that hung around near the house we were staying and I decided I wanted to get in his head and try to write a song from his perspective.  So in some ways that’s a disclaimer if in the song I try to be pretend to be like 76 years old.”

  3. Onslow County = “This is a song called ‘Onslow County’ in a long line of songs about my home town cause I just spent some time there and decided that there should be more songs about this ridiculously boring place where I am from.  This is Van Alston’s, one of his favorites.”

  4. Folklore = “This is a song about kind of about my mom and and Hot Wheels and stuff, cause I just spent some time in my home town, my mom got really sick, and I went down there and it’s very sobering to be with somebody that’s ill and it was really weird: for once in my mother’s life she actually liked to listen to me play, so I knew she was, you know, fucked up.  But she’s fine now.”
